The Fundacion Global's V Festival opens today, 15 November and will continue through 20 November at venues in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. A long list of international guests, workshops and tributes are on the schedule. Veteran actors Danny Glover and Geraldine Chaplin will be attending. The festival opens on Wednesday 16 November with the film "Jaquemate" directed by Dominican Jose Maria Cabral and featuring Adrian Mas, Frank Perozo and Sharlene Taule.

Visiting film directors for the 2011 DRGFF include Antonio Saura, Jose Antonio Escriva and Patricio Castilla.

Coming from Latin America are Fernando Carrillo and Manolo Cardona who will be present at the showing of the film El cartel de los sapos, based on the popular TV soap, on Thursday 17 November.

There will be several tributes, including one to Dominican movie actress Maria Montez, who would have been 100 years old next year. A documentary on Porfirio Rubirosa will be screened, "Chasing Rubirosa", with conversations by Isabella Wall, Marty Wall and Khalil Hache.

Other films that will be shown include: La piel que habito, America, Americano, Carlos, Chico y Rita, Catching Hell, Chasing Rubisrosa, I am Cumbio, Las llaves de la independencia, Miss Bala, Post Mortem, Sing your Song and The Prize.

The festival movies will be shown in Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Nagua and Higuey in the DR and in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
