Although the prevailing winds from the northeast have brought cooler temperatures to most of the country, the existence of unusually rough waters off the north coast has required the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) to issue a small craft warning for all craft along the Atlantic Coast between Manzanillo and Samana. Small boats in Samana Bay are being advised to remain close to the shoreline.
The high-pressure system over the North Atlantic will bring cooler air, and only scattered showers are expected in the northeast, southeast and the central mountains, with some gusts of high winds. The skies over most of the country will be partially cloudy.
