Good pitching gave the Estrellas Orientales a 1-0 victory over the Tigres del Licey in Santo Domingo. The Estrellas have the lowest batting average (.216) and have scored the fewest runs (79) and needed 16 innings to score just one run, but it counted as their pitching held the Tigres to zero runs for the innings of last night's game. They used five pitchers for the victory.

In La Romana's Francisco Micheli Stadium, the Toros del Este also scored a 1-0 victory, beating the Gigantes del Cibao. Matt Hague hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the eleventh inning to leave the cellar-dwelling Gigantes all alone in the field of play. The game for the most part was a magnificent pitching duel between John Halama of the Gigantes who threw seven near-perfect innings and Fernando Abad who seemed to match him pitch for pitch for five innings before five relief pitchers took over the job.

And Escogido defeated the Aguilas 3-2 in Santiago.

The standings for the tournament are: <b>Team <b>Win-Loss <b>Average <b>Games behind TIGRES 15 - 10 .600 -- TOROS 14 - 10 .583 0.5 AGUILAS 14 - 11 .560 1.0 LEONES 13 - 12 .520 2.0 ESTRELLAS 10 - 14 .417 4.5 GIGANTES 8 - 17 .320 7.0 </p>
