The Sala de la Cultura of the National Theater in Santo Domingo hosted the 4th International Guitar Festival last night. Performances continue on Friday, 18 November with the participation of Gyan Riley from the United States and the duo The Gothenburg Combo from Sweden, First Prize winners in the International Guitar Contest. Musicians from Sweden, Italy, the US, Cuba and the Dominican Republic are appearing in the guitar festival. The repertoire ranges from classical to modern and popular guitar music.
On Saturday, 19 November, the festival continues with a performance at 8pm at the Hotel Barcelo in Playa Dorada. On stage will be The Gothenburg Combo from Sweden, Sante Tursi from Italy, William Jenk and Gyan Riley from the United States, Jorge Luis Garcell from Cuba and Felipe Baez from the Dominican Republic. The event in Puerto Plata is sponsored by the Puerto Plata Tourism & Cultural Cluster and the Playa Dorada Hotels Association. Tickets are RD$500.
