The Public Electricity Companies (CDEEE) will not receive the US$200 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank, which was ratified by the Senate.
CDEEE executive vice president Celso Marranzini said that the disbursement would be made to the Ministry of Hacienda for budget support. He went on to clarify, however, that the approval of this loan was subject to the fulfillment of conditions by the electricity sector, related to administrative, managerial, operational and financial performance, along with other aspects.
Marranzini said that this is not the first time the IDB has made a decision of this kind, recalling that in 2009 and 2010 the international financial institution authorized close to US$500 million for this purpose.
