The Aguilas Cibaenas faced the Leones del Escogido and came away with an exciting 3-2 victory in Santo Domingo on Friday night.

Once again Joaquin Arias was the hero with a run producing single in the tenth inning which gave the Aguilas the victory, thanks to great relief pitching by TJ Pena who got his first win of the season. TJ was the last of five pitchers used by manager Felix Fermin after starting pitcher Shane Youman turned in six near-perfect innings in a duel with the Leones' Chris Rusin.

The game between the Tigres del Licey and the Estrellas Orientales was postponed because of rain and will be played on Monday 28 November.

In San Francisco de Macoris, the lowly Gigantes del Cibao beat up on the powerful Toros del Este by a score of 11-1, with Brad Nelson debuting with four RBIs, and Lenny Dinardo pitching five innings of shutout ball. Catcher Brad Nelson also contributed with 2-4 hitting, two RBIs and two runs scored.

On Saturday night, the Gigantes made it two in a row as they pounded the hapless Leones del Escogido 9-1 in the Estadio Quisqueya in Santo Domingo. Starting pitcher Keven Pucetas threw six good, one-run, baseball, retiring the last 13 batters he faced in order. None of the four relief pitchers, Rhiner Cruz, Jose Cisnero, Juan Perez or Ryota Igarashi allowed a hit or a run. The Gigantes scored first off of starter Eduard Valdez, who only lasted 2 1/3 innings, and were never really threatened.

The Toros del Este bounced back from the defeat the day before and took a tight game from the Tigres del Licey, 3-2, in La Romana's Francisco Micheli Stadium. Ricardo Nanita's sixth homerun, a two-run blast in the fifth inning proved to be the game winner. Last year's champions climbed into first place as a result of the victory.

In Santiago, Barrett Browning pitched very well for five innings and six Aguilas relievers preserved the victory, as the Aguilas Cibaenas defeated once again the Estrellas Orientales, 7-1. Joaquin Arias (again) and Brian Bogusevic were once again the big guns for the Aguilas with three RBIs each.

In Sunday's games, the Aguilas Cibaenas defeated the Tigres del Licey 6-5 in a come-from-behind victory that once again featured the batting of Joaquin Arias, who provided the key hit of the game. The victory puts the Aguilas at the top of the standings at 17-11. In the Quisqueya Stadium, Alberto Rosario drove in the decisive run in the fifth inning and then Franklin German worked two and one-third innings of great relief to preserve a 3-2 victory by the Toros del Este over the Leones del Escogido.
