President Leonel Fernandez has inaugurated a modern health facility built by Central Romana Corporation at a cost of RD$1.2 billion pesos. The state-of-the-art hospital, built by the sugar corporation headed by Alfonso Fanjul, is comparable to any similar facility in the United States or Europe, according to the President. The hospital was built with the support of the Baptist Hospital of Miami, Florida, considered one of the best in the South Florida area. The Romana Corporation has over 25,000 direct employees. Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Morales Troncoso and Minister of Public Health Bautista Rojas Gomez also attended yesterday's opening ceremony, together with leading Central Romana executives.
