Police kill thief who stole RD$2 million

A National Police patrol killed Starlyn Manuel de Jesus Hernandez, 27, known as "Lanza" and said to be a member of a gang that stole about RD$2 million pesos from a house in San Francisco de Macoris, taking a mother and daughter hostage. De Jesus Hernandez died while being taken to the hospital in San Francisco de Macoris, after he allegedly tried to shoot it out with the Police patrol. The stolen money belonged to a trader, Jose Manuel Paulino, and the Police are still looking for the other three members of the gang. One of the three is known only as "Pitarra" who, together with the dead man were accused of taking part in rapes and robberies with deadly weapons.
