The Dominican Airport Consortium Century XXI (Aerodom) informed the public that it would be carrying out disaster simulations at the El Catey airport in Samana, and at the Arroyo Barril Airport, also on the peninsula of Samana. Because of the simulations, the surrounding communities have been told of the exercises and the movement of ambulances and firefighting equipment around the areas. These exercises are in compliance with the international requirements of the Civil Aviation Organization and the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute.
