Songstress Martha Heredia, the winner of the 2009 Latin American Idol reality TV show, has been sentenced to pay RD$1.5 million in compensation to the family of a man she killed in a car accident at kilometer 43 of the Duarte Highway last year. The Traffic Tribunal of Villa Altagracia issued the verdict. The lawyer representing the young woman from Santiago said that they would appeal the sentence.
