The Felix Maria Goico Hospital in the V Centenario residential area, also known as the "Lottery Sellers' Hospital, is a second-tier hospital that includes the principal medical specialties, but few people know about it. This hospital, which belongs to the Dominican Social Security Institute is supposed to assist the poor. However, it was in such poor condition that it almost closed down for lack of resources two years ago. Instead, the director, Dr. Jorge Chahin Herrera, has managed to rescue the medical facility and achieve a near 100% coverage and a satisfaction rate of 70% among its patients.

The facility still lacks many things, including ECG machines and tomography, mammograms and dialysis equipment. But the place, according to Diario Libre reporters, is clean and its store of medicines and materials is full. Some areas have been recently remodeled. Dr. Chahin accepts that some of his patients' complaints are justified, including the lack of some specialists and some doctors' tardiness in arriving at their offices, but he said that they are working on solving these issues. The small hospital has 35 beds and sees nearly 6000 patients a month.
