The Leones del Escogido ended their terrible losing streak and shut out the Gigantes del Cibao, 7-0 in the Estadio Quisqueya. The victory puts the Reds just one game away from the all-precious fourth spot in the standings. The team that had just scored nine runs in the previous eight games (72 innings) scored seven against the Gigantes. Jordan Norberto won his second start of the season with five sterling innings and he struck out 10 opposing batters, the first man to do so in this year's tournament. His work was supported by three more Escogido pitchers. Josh Donaldson and Craig Gentry contributed five hits, and Mauro Gomez had a homerun, a double and a single.
The Toros del Este threw a 1-0 shutout at the Tigres del Licey. This was their ninth shutout of the season, a great show of pitching strength. The game's only run came on a double by Alberto Rosario, a base on balls, a hit batsman and a sacrifice fly by Diory Hernandez to score Rosario from third. The game moved Licey into second place in the standings.
In Santiago's Estadio Cibao, the Aguilas Cibaenas continued their strange domination of the Estrellas Orientales and won for the seventh time in a row, 3-1, sending the Estrellas back to the cellar. Mendy Lopez hit a double and single to back up Shane Youman's fine, one-run pitching and he earned his second victory.
