The Supreme Court of Justice has set the date for an extradition hearing for Oscar Rodriguez Cruz for the 14 December. Rodriguez Cruz faces drug trafficking charges in the United States. The decision was taken after the Attorney General of the Republic requested the setting of a date, after arresting him for extradition for the second time. According to the United States' accusation, Rodriguez Cruz supplied and organized the import and transportation of large amounts of cocaine in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States.

Intercepted phone calls reveal that a quantity of 80 kilos of cocaine were going to be sent to an individual in Boston, named Daurin Arias, alias Yayo, but that he backed away and that Manuel E. Pinales accepted the delivery of the drugs from Rodriguez Cruz despite still having some left over from a previous consignment. The telephone activity confirmed the conclusion that Richard Pena met with Edwin Guzman on the morning of 28 August and received the 80 kilos of cocaine and that the suitcases and the bags that Pena carried to 7 Knight Street contained the drugs. Rodriguez Cruz had been deported from the United States in February 1997.
