Police pledge to make arrests in shooting deaths

National Police spokesman Colonel Maximo Baez Aybar has told reporters from Listin Diario that they expect to begin searches and make arrests shortly in the case of Tuesday's shooting deaths on the Las American Expressway. The Police are studying the vehicle looking for clues among the wreckage of the two vehicles involved. They have recovered fragments and spent bullets and have interviewed more than half a dozen witnesses. Baez Aybar noted that the fact that two of the deceased had long rap sheets reflected a deficiency in the system, since "anyone who has a complaint on file is sent to the Justice Department for trial."
