Yesterday the PRD withdrew an objection complaint they had filed against the president of the Santiago Election Board, Haime Thomas Frias Carela with accusations of favoritism. The president of the municipal PRD committee, Yovanny Tejada, read a document in which the party says that "although there are motives for the objection," the party will not formalize the case in order to allow the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to find a consensus solution to the problem. The document established that a consensus should be achieved with the participation of the political parties and in cooperation with the institutions of society and the churches. "With this decision, the PRD wants to make clear its willingness to seek a balanced, fair and legal solution that takes into account the society of Santiago and its institutions," said the PRD statement.

Nevertheless, the party said that it will be firm so that the JCE can guarantee the transparency, fairness and the results of the freely expressed will of all of the citizens. "We will not lower our guard, on the contrary, now more than ever we will be vigilant, alert and very aware of the development of the preparatory processes for the next elections in 2012." The objection was motivated by alleged party political activities by Frias Carela and his closest family members, which led to a loss of credibility and uncertainty among the rank and file of the party. They were referring to the fact that commentator Brenda Sanchez, who is Frias Carela's wife, acted as the master of ceremony at the proclamation of Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez as the PLD Vice Presidential candidate in the Gran Arena del Cibao on Sunday 27 November.
