Next Sunday the PLD will hold a national march in the capital, headed by President Leonel Fernandez and candidates Danilo Medina and Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez. This will bring the 2011 activities to a close. The announcement was made by PLD secretary general Reinaldo Pared Perez, who said that the event would start at 3pm, going from the intersection of Pedro Livio Cedeno and Duarte Avenue in the Villas Agricolas barrio and ending on the Malecon.

"In order to commemorate the 38th anniversary of the founding of the PLD, and to bring to a close the activities with the rank and file for this year, we are convening the militants, the leadership and the Dominican people in general to the national march that we will hold on next Sunday," he stated. Pared Perez said that President Fernandez would be joining the campaign for the Medina-Cedeno ticket during this march. "In this way the PLD accepts the proposal for a cease of electoral campaign activities during the celebration of the Christmas holidays, a request voiced by several religious leaders," he said. The national rally commemorates the 38th anniversary of the party's foundation by Professor Juan Bosch on 15 December 1973. The secretary general of the PLD called on the party faithful and the general public to take part in what he promised would be a massive rally.
