The Executive Branch has revoked Decree 484-10 that appointed Jose Acevedo Trinidad as a deputy minister of Industry and Commerce. Acevedo Trinidad is accused of beating and issuing death threats against his wife, Arianny Lara Hernandez. The disposition is contained in Decree 734-11, signed by the Vice-President of the Republic, Rafael Alburquerque, in the absence of President Fernandez. Lara Hernandez, who has been married to Acevedo Trinidad for 14 years, complained to the judicial authorities that the former PLD deputy had been abusing her and her two children for the past four years. In statements to "El Informe de Alicia Ortega", Lara said that the insults, blows and mistreatment both to her as well as her children, started in 2007, and although the authorities received the case more than nine months ago, the official has not been brought to justice, despite the Justice Department having physical and psychological evidence in its possession. Supposedly, the case was sent to the Supreme Court of Justice where it should be tried because of his position as a deputy minister.
