In last night's action in the Dominican Winter Baseball League, Willy Mo Pena hit two homeruns and the Tigres del Licey ended a two-game losing streak, defeating the Gigantes del Cibao 5-4 in the Julian Javier Stadium in San Francisco de Macoris. Licey arrived in San Francisco after losing four of the last five games. Licey put together a 4-run attack in the seventh inning to ice the game. Meanwhile over in Santo Domingo, the Leones del Escogido eked out a 3-2 win over the Estrellas Orientales in yet another battle for the coveted fourth spot in the standings. Mauro Gomez drove in Starlin Marte with the winning run in the eleventh inning. And still further to the east, the Aguilas Cibaenas, leading the league, saw their opening pitcher Barret Browning come back from a disastrous first inning and shut out the Toros del Este for the remaining four innings and get his second win of the season. The Aguilas scored in the first, third and fourth innings and took the 5-4 victory to stay in first place.
