During an event chaired by the Vice President Rafael Alburquerque, the Roundtable of Water of the Participative Anti-corruption Initiative (IPAC) inaugurated the First National Meeting on Hydraulic Resources last night. The meeting brings together national and international experts who will focus on raising awareness of the need to be careful in the use of water and the use of the ecosystem. The discussions took place at the Global Democracy and Development Foundation (Funglode) and featured a keynote speech by Carlos F. Espinosa entitled "Integrated Management of Hydraulic Resources." Freddy Perez, the head of the Santo Domingo water system, noted that only 2% of the water in the world is fit for human consumption, the rest being salt water. Espinosa said that with the world population topping seven billion, water is a key element for securing reliable food sources.
