The national director of the Department for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (DPCA), Hotoniel Bonilla, says that deputy Cristobal Castillo has declared assets of RD$167 million, of which RD$43 million in cash is deposited in the Central Bank.
The PRD legislator is in the process of presenting a legislative bill that proposes abolishing the DPCA.
Bonilla warned that the creation of populist rules do not contribute to improving the country's institutionalism, adding that Castillo owns four gas stations. He invited him to revise the bill on sworn declarations of assets, which has been languishing in the Chamber of Deputies for a year, and that could be used for analyzing his assets. "That is, if we're going to fight corruption, let's start there".
