Bautista Rojas Gomez has penned an official notification to his regional directors and epidemiologists to be on the lookout for water-borne diseases through the use of polluted water. The alert is in effect for the entire Christmas holiday period since experience has shown that it is a time when people tend to consume or use contaminated water. Regional directors, epidemiologists and hospital directors will implement programs to educate, guide and prepare the hospital services to keep these illnesses under control. According to Hoy newspaper, excessive consumption of alcohol, often with ice made from poorly regulated sources can lead to serious illnesses.
