With yesterday's evaluation of eight of the 14 judges on the Supreme Court of Justice who are not at retirement age, the National Council of Magistrates (CNM) is getting ready to announce the names of the 40 new judges and their substitutes, who will occupy positions on the high courts. In the meantime, the Senate president, Reinaldo Pared Perez, hopes that this month the 17 magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), the 13 of the Constitutional Tribunal and the five who will sit on the Superior Electoral Tribunal, all with an equal number of substitutes. In the evaluation by the CNM, carried out in a closed-door hearing in the Council of Ministers Salon of the Presidential Palace, Chief Justice Jorge Subero Isa, Deputy Chief Justice Eglis Esmurdoc Castellanos, Julio Anibal Suarez, Dulce Rodriguez de Goris, Victor Jose Castellanos, Edgar Hernandez Mejia, Ana Rosa Berges Dreyfous and Enilda Reyes Perez were all in attendance.

The Council will next talk to the presiding magistrates of the three chambers of the Supreme Court and go over the performances of the judges remaining on the bench. This will take place on Friday. Both Reinaldo Pared Perez and Cesar Pina Toribio, who were present during the process, seemed confident that the CNM would be appointing the magistrates for the high courts next week.
