This morning the second chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice will begin hearing an extradition request to the United States for Oscar Rodriguez Cruz, who faces charges of drug trafficking. The court will examine a petition that decrees his delivery, made by the Attorney General of the Republic. Rodriguez Cruz was summoned by the court and is to be transferred from the Najayo Prison.

According to the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Rodriguez Cruz supplied and organized the import and transport of multiple kilos of cocaine to Boston, Massachusetts. In intercepted telephone calls between Rodriguez Cruz and Manuel E. Pinales, who supposedly received the drugs, the latter told the first that they has agreed to a price of "one and a half" per kilo, but Oscar was not in agreement and insisted that the price was "22" meaning US$22,000 per kilo, and threatened that if Pinales caused him trouble he would get nothing.
