The National Police Anti-Narcotics Department (DICAN) has arrested two people for questioning in connection with Puerto Rican capo Miguel Rivera Diaz. The authorities have also seized several houses, including one under construction that belonged to the defendant.

However, a source told Diario Libre that the people who were arrested were a man who drives a propane gas delivery pickup truck in which the capo traveled and another man, who used to run personal errands for the fugitive.

The searches have allowed the authorities to seize several vehicles that belong to the Puerto Rican capo registered in the names of third parties.

Yesterday, Police investigators denied the story that said that a Dominican police officer was given the sum of US$25,000 to collaborate with the DEA authorities in order to trap the Puerto Rican drug trafficker.

According to reports, the drug trafficker kept a low profile as a cover for his activities. He lived in poor barrios, did not display a lot of money, did not go to fancy restaurants, had his hair cut at barbershops in poor areas, used a scooter and a propane distribution pickup truck to get around, his women were not high class 'mega-divas,' and he did nothing to attract attention.

The Puerto Rico police, in the case file on Rivera Diaz, say that on one occasion he went to a discotheque in Puerto Rico wielding an automatic rifle, to eliminate a rival capo. Two women were wounded in the incident after he went up to them and shot them in the face.

The contract killer and trafficker was the brother of Angel Rivera Diaz (Angelito) who was murdered over drug issues in Puerto Rico. His brother Angelito used to receive the drug shipments in Puerto Rico, sent from the Dominican Republic in fast boats and private jets, and he was in charge of collecting the money from drug sales points on the neighboring island.

After hearing of his brother's death, Miguel Rivera traveled to Puerto Rico, turning up at the funeral with a group of bodyguards from Santo Domingo. Rivera, a.k.a. "El Bolo, El Loco, El Boricua" ordered the murder of two people who were tortured and then burned alive and in reprisal for Angelito's death.

Rivera Diaz is among the United States Justice Department 10 Most Wanted Criminals.
