The Judicial Branch will submit Judge Altagracia Sanchez of the Civil Chamber in La Romana before the Attorney General on charges that she attempted to extort the sum of US$6,000 from a businessman in return for influencing a verdict. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and president of the Judicial Council, Jorge Subero Isa said that the plaintiff presented evidence that was "very" incriminating, including a tape recording in which an intermediary is heard allegedly asking the businessman for money in the name of the judge of the First Instance. Subero said yesterday that he has heard the tapes and he is just waiting for the Attorney General, Radhames Jimenez Pena to return from a trip around the country in order to ask him to open a case and prosecute the judge as is necessary, as reported in El Caribe.
