President Leonel Fernandez was in San Francisco de Macoris yesterday to deliver RD$770 million in bonds to cacao growers in the province who were affected by tropical storms in 2003. The funds will be used to pay export houses and cacao processing companies. Speaking at the event, Bishop Jesus Maria de Jesus Moya gave a blessing and highlighted the importance of the support for these farmers. Speaking for the cacao growers and producers were businessmen Isidro Vargas, Miguel Angel Roig and Hector Jose Rizek. Also present were Nazario Rizek, Ricardo Munne and Jose Paiewonsky, leading businessmen in the sector.
