The president of the Penal Chamber of the Appeals Court of the Province of Santo Domingo, Olga Venecia Herrera Carbuccia has been elected to the post of judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. She received 77 votes of 119 countries in the judicial election for six posts held at the United Nations in New York City this week. She will hold the seat assigned to Latin America and the Caribbean. Herrera is a former dean of the Faculty of Juridical Sciences and Politics at the UNPHU in Santo Domingo. She is a graduate in law from the state UASD University.
