Known as a right-hand man of Puerto Rican drug capo Jose David Figueroa Agosto (Junior Capsula), Ramon Antonio del Rosario (Tono Lena) was sent to Puerto Rico for trial yesterday. Tono Lena had been arrested in Venezuela and deported to the Dominican Republic in June 2010, but used legal procedures to delay his requested extradition to Puerto Rico ever since. As is routine, the extradition was approved on the condition that under no circumstance can he be judged for an infraction different to that motivating his extradition and he will receive a maximum penalty of 30 years in jail, as reported in El Dia.
US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents and US Marshals were in Santo Domingo yesterday for the implementation of the extradition. Decree No. 752-11 signed on 15 December 2011 by President Leonel Fernandez finally authorized the extradition, and Tono Lena left aboard a special plane from the San Isidro military air base, after being brought there from Najayo Jail. El Dia reports that the special Police Swat forces delivered an accused person to US law authorities and not the local National Drug Control Department.
