The Association of Industries of Herrera and the Province of Santo Domingo (AEIH) is calling for an end to the "era of diagnostics" saying the same conclusions are always reached about the productive sectors, as reported in acento.com.do (http://acento.com.do). The AEIH, now under Wadi Cano Acra, says the times call for a new era based on political will to apply the laws, the rules of the game and the regulations that guarantee the continuity of public policies.

He said that the decline of industry in terms of its contribution to the GDP, in percentage of bank loans and decreasing confidence, is the result of atrophied government policies. "We promoted the reform of the electricity sector, but this was castrated; the Law of Innovation and Industrial Competitiveness," a valuable instrument was frustrated; while the block of laws on transparency in government accountability is barely applied," he complained.

He said the industrialists' own awareness of the need to support the strengthening of institutions has also been lacking. He criticized the lack of government commitment to the National Development Strategy, which is lagging in Congress.
