In an unusual twist, it's colder outside in the DR than inside air-conditioned rooms. At least that was the situation over the weekend and on Monday across large areas of the Dominican Republic. The reason is the 15-25-knot trade winds over the Caribbean, with widely scattered convection especially felt over the northern coasts. Likewise, a cold front over the Atlantic Ocean is keeping temperatures chilly over the next 24 hours, bringing more scattered showers and wind gusts. Small boats are being advised to remain in port on the north coast and to keep within the bay in the Samana area. For Santo Domingo, a low of 20C and a high of 29C is forecast, for Punta Cana 21/28C, and Santiago 18/29C.
