Alianza Pais presidential candidate Guillermo Moreno said yesterday that only when there are no more sacred cows or 'un-knockable' doors because the Presidency is held by a person with political will, will the true fight against drug trafficking have begun. He said that until then, what there will be is "lots of farce and complicities" in the combating of such a terrible crime.

As reported in 7dias.com.do (http://7dias.com.do), Moreno said that society needed to identify the people who benefit from drug trafficking and their collaborators and that sooner or later laws must be fulfilled regardless of politics.

Moreno said it is not enough to separate the inside accomplices from the armed forces and called for dismantling the criminal networks and sending all involved to jail. Moreno stressed the vulnerability of the state institutions that fight drug trafficking, mentioning that "in many cases this operates from within the armed forces and intelligence services, finances candidacies and is able to take on civilian and public roles."
