The coroner who performed an autopsy on the body of a fugitive 48-year old Puerto Rican pilot found dead after the confiscation of a 58-kilo shipment destined for Puerto Rico on dawn of Sunday, said the man had suffered severe blows to the head and an impact of a bullet exiting through the left eye, according to Police chief Major General Jose Armando Polanco Gomez.

Puerto Rican Santos Seda Rodriguez, a resident of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, was the owner of the Beech 95-B55, twin-engine aircraft with tail number N 355 DL where the drugs were found. Polanco Gomez said the investigation by the Police, the National Department of Investigations (DNI), the intelligence division of the Army (J2), the National Drug Control Department and the Prosecutor General Office continues.

Santos Seda Rodriguez is known to be the owner of the airplane that the DNCD confiscated with 58 packages of cocaine on board. Investigators say the man was killed on Monday and his corpse left at Km 15 of the Higuey-La Romana highway, near the community of Benerito, as reported in El Dia.

The aircraft where the drug consignment was found is registered in the United States and is listed by the Federal Aviation Administration as belonging to Seda Rodriguez who was said to have six similar airplanes and who has a previous drug trafficking record.

According to the flight plans, the plane made frequent trips between Puerto Rico and returned to the Dominican Republic, with the last flights being the fifth and the seventh of this month.

In connection with the case the authorities have arrested agents Vladimir Peralta Santos and Wilfredo Antonio Avila Vasquez of the National Drug Control Department (DNCD) as well as a civilian, Salvador Gomez Feliz. According to the DNCD report, Seda Rodriguez fled after being tipped off about the drug seizure.

The DNCD reported in 2011 it has confiscated 6,862 kilos of drugs, including 6,458 kilos of cocaine, 1,931 more kilos than in 2010, and 40 kilos of heroin, 10 more than in 2010.
