In a tragic reflection of so many of society's ills, a young adult male killed his underage lover and her new boyfriend, a man beat his former wife to death with a length of pipe and another sprayed his former wife with gasoline and set her on fire. She later died of her injuries.
The authorities are trying to clear up the ownership of a revolver that a 21-year old man used yesterday to kill his former wife, a minor, her friend, the mayor of a rural community in the province of El Seibo, before committing suicide in a series of events that dismayed the population. The victims were: young Yanelis Acevedo, 15, Pablo Pimentel Castro, 44, the village headman of El Cerrito and their murderer Victor Manuel Basilio Mercedes, 21, who then killed himself with a gunshot to the head. The crime has shocked local residents. It all happened after Victor Manuel Basilio, who had broken up with his underage wife over a month ago, and who still watched her constantly, found her with the village mayor at a nail salon on Amado Scroggin Street in Ginandiana in El Seibo.
