Talented 400m runner Luguelin Santos (at the age of 18 he clocked up a time of 44.71 and won the silver medal at the Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico) has signed a two-year deal with German-sports attire firm Puma, his agent Kris Mychasiw announced. Santos is ranked seventh in the world in the 400 meters race by the IAAF.
As reported, Luguelin, who started the season with a modest personal best of 46.19, set at the National Youth and National Junior Championships when he 17.
He will become only the second Dominican, after Felix Sanchez (who won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles at the Athens Olympics) to compete in the Diamond League that is composed of 14 of the best invitational track and field meetings in the world.
