El Caribe carried a report on Monday, 2 January with suggestive photographs of foreign cheerleaders in suggestive sexual postures. The newspaper makes the point that the sexual movements of the cheerleaders is found offensive by fans who take the family to watch baseball games. Escogido was first to bring in the imported cheerleaders, but then Licey followed. El Caribe reports that there are times when the dances of the cheerleaders are not for minors and are bordering on vulgarity. One fan said he came to see the baseball, not something else. One fan said that in Major League Baseball similar shows are not to be seen. The fans interviewed by El Caribe called for moderation. But another fan said that they have given new life to the game. This season, only the former champions Los Toros, that did not make the round robin this year, did not have their set of lovely female cheerleader dancers.
