I'll be based on the south coast for my February trip. I'd like to bus it to Samana then over to Sosua. I'll be in a house just off the Autopista (Route 3) and Route 7 fairly close to SDQ. Thanks.

Hotel Todo Blanco in Samana is excellent and right on the beach.

Just did the Caribe Bus from SDQ up to Samana last month. If you are in Boca Chica you do not have to go all the way into the capital to the main Caribe Terminal. They have a satellite terminal on Las Americas right where the turn off is to the new highway. Just tell your taxi Caribe on Las Americas, took about 2 hours up to Samana 330 pesos.

It is over 3 hours probably closer to 4 hours sometimes and at least a couple of years ago when we out there and and had girls from Puerto Plata come out to party there was only one bus a day which left POP really early like 6 or 7 am and the bus from Samana back to POP left Samana at 2pm from the park right there in town.

It is a nice drive by car and you can make it in 2-3 hours

The bus between POP and Samana is not Caribe Tours. It is a small dominican bus. I think his cell # is 829-916-3041. As Mike said it leaves POP in the morning passing through Sosua around 7:00 am heading east and returning in the afternoon. It can be crowded at times with little room. I think it was 300 pesos.

probably "CIBAO" transport, they have a small office on the side of caribe tours in los charamicos I think it is something that starts with a P like maybe Papagayo and when a couple girls I know took it from POP to Samana at least that time it only stopped out front on the side of the highway in Sosua they said but that could have been right there by the gas station and Caribe tours like you said.

And a nice Italian owned and operated hotel like others on the north coast  At least you know there will be decent food and a decent glass of wine. :corky:

Samana city. thats like 3 hours 45 mins That bus with stops probably does take that long like I said closer to 4 hours than 3 to Samana. If you ride in a car especially if a local is driving that is a whole different story and usually I stop hanging on to the seat and armrest and biting my lip by the time we hit Cabarete

While in Sos. drop by Metro office at Texaco and ask the guys there for hours and buses to Samana. They know exact hours. It goes by colour of a bus, yellow (amarillo), blue (azul) and maroon. Buses go to Sanchez and back.
