Several government officials and Melba Segura de Grullon, the president of the Sur Futuro Foundation were injured in Jimani on Friday when a ceremonial tent was destroyed by a very strong gust of wind. The officials, including Minister of Culture Jose Rafael Lantigua, were celebrating the inauguration of a reservoir tank with a mural dedicated to the victims of the Rio Blanco disaster of 2004. First aid was administered on the spot and several of the victims were transferred to Santo Domingo's Abel Gonzalez Clinic for Advanced Medicine.
