Telecom company Orange Dominicana and Singularity University are sponsoring a contest aimed at identifying innovative thinkers and their projects. This contest is open to anyone from the Dominican Republic between the ages of 18 and 35 who is ready to transform their innovative ideas into reality.

The motivation is that throughout history and across the globe, millions of lives have been improved by innovative ideas from individuals from many different fields of expertise.

The winners need to apply with a no more than 700-word reply to this challenge/question:

"How can we improve the standard of living - health, education, and security - of 10 million people, in the next five years, in Dominican Republic, through the use of telecommunications?"

The prize for the winner is a scholarship to the 2012 Graduate Studies Program at Singularity University, worth US$30,000.

A video explaining the project also needs to be created. Videos must be in English and must not exceed five minutes.

The ten-week interdisciplinary program brings together entrepreneurial leaders and top graduate and postgraduate students from around the globe to explore solutions aimed at solving some of the world's most pressing challenges. The deadline for entries is March 15, 2012.
