The National Drug Control Department (DNCD) has announced the seizure of contraband of 204 packages reportedly containing 207 kilos of cocaine that was being shipped to Puerto Rico through the Multimodal Caucedo Port.
DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron said that the anti-drug agency arrested a deportee, Nelson Aquino Fernandez, and Waldi Miguel Bueno Almonte, Johnson Ogando Pena and Juan Carlos Puntiel Sosa in the operation. Lebron said that Aquino Fernandez was responsible for supervising the shipment, while Bueno Almonte was the driver of the truck in which the seven bags that contained the shipment was delivered to the port. The cocaine was seized when the men now under arrest were entering the port.
The drugs would have been shipped to Puerto Rico on one of two containers numbered PONU1400347 y MRKU2611954 on Maersk Rabean ship.
Lebron said that the US drug enforcement agency, the DEA, joined the investigations to determine the final destination of the shipment, as reported in El Dia.
