Following a meeting at the Hotel Hamaca in Boca Chica yesterday, the PRSC announced it would seek a political alliance in the 2012 presidential election. Listin Diario reports that the decision was taken by the party's National Political Commission, with a 75-24 vote, and by the PRSC's Executive Commission. The newspaper reports the party is most likely to seek to continue its alliance with the ruling PLD. PRSC president, Carlos Morales Troncoso is Minister of Foreign Relations in the Fernandez administration. The PRSC authorized Morales to negotiate the alliances, as reported in Listin Diario. The politicians also approved Johnny Jones as their candidate for the post of secretary general of the Dominican Municipal League in the assembly scheduled for 26 January.
PRSC Deputy Victor Bisono had called for the party to take its own candidate to the 20 May 2012 election and then seek an alliance.
