View Full Version : At least seven Dominicans were on board Concordia

The Ministry of Foreign Relations has confirmed that at least three Dominicans were members of the crew of the capsized Costa Concordia. The 4,000+ passenger ship hit the rocks off Giglio island off the Tuscan coast, with a tragic toll of 14 dead and 29 missing. The Ministry of Foreign Relations said that it has had already provided two of the first identified women, Raysa Otanez and Rayrub Torres Otanez with documentation to return to the country. Three of the crew members, named as Jose Dario del Villar Vidal, Jose Antonio Lantigua and Martin del Rosario are reported to be safe and sound. They are staying at the Hotel Gran Duca in Grosetto, Tuscany, some 300kms from Rome. Dominican ambassador in Rome Vinicio Tobal told El Dia that he and honorary consul in Florence, Lino Sorespieri are assisting the crew and following up on the Concordia tragedy.

At least another two Dominicans were on board the cruise ship, including Romelia Darisa Gonzalez Pascual and Ramon Escalante Florentino who traveled back to their home in Andorra on an Alitalia flight on Sunday.
