Last Thursday the Central Bank announced that it would intervene in the currency market to prevent the exchange rate from increasing and affecting price stability. However, there has been little change since then, with both buying and selling staying at around 39 pesos. According to the Central Bank, the average rate for buying dollars was RD$ 38.89 yesterday and the sale price was RD$38.95.
According to the Bank, the change in the US dollar/Dominican peso exchange rate was caused by seasonal rather than monetary factors.
