The grand opening of the Plaza Mumbo was on June 11th and the place was packed with local gringos and Dominicans. It was hard to get to a table with the shoulder to shoulder crowd.
The old carwash Plaza Mumbo has been covered in with a cane roof. The inside area must be close to 30,000 sq. feet. They have 20 or 25 slot machines in one area alone with a pizza restaurant. The bar area is "L" shaped with about 50 feet each arm with a raised dance area above and 3 poles.
They had a live band and between sets the 12 dances went up above the bar and preformed their strip show 3 dancers at a time. They had maybe 40 waitresses, 12 dancers, 10 waiters and as many security men plus 6 or 8 bartenders.
The prices are set very high, (small beer at 90 pesos plus 26% tax) and I'm not sure the locals and Dominicans will support those prices and there aren’t enough tourists around at this time of year. Salida for chicas there is 1500 pesos so I'm told.
Went back last night to see how busy it was. They had a good crowd and with a 12 piece band and the 12 dancers it was entertaining. They didn't have the waitress but they did have 8 to 10 chicas sitting along a rail looking like they were available. I was with a girlfriend so I didn't check them out. It looks to me like it will be a place for us locals to take a chica when you want to dance and have some entertainment.
I know I'll take my guests at the "Field of Dreams Inn" over there to start the night out on the town. But the new Ana Mirian’s bar (old Luz Maria’s) is where we’ll end up at to catch their show; it’s been great but a late starter at 1am. They also have a nice fresh selection (from 10 to 16) of new chicas there with more reasonable drink and salida prices.

Yeah, that's the old Hollywood place. The guy on the other thread got his directions worng. It is a big place, but changes every year or 2.

We go, we look and we tell them the prices are too high and we leave. After the owners hear this a few 100 times, maybe then they get the idea.
Definately chek it out, I did alright there last year, It was alack of talent that did the place in IMHO. The chica I had was at crystals in a few days asking for a lot more pesos.

Casa Nightclub Ana Mirian is located in downtown POP. It is three blocks from Central Park and Banco Popular. From Banco Popular walk one block south, turn right, go two blocks and turn left. If you go in alone or a taxi driver takes you into Ana Mirian's you'll have to pay 1000 pesos because the owner has to give the taxi driver a 500 peso commission. If you go in by yourself you may be able to get by with only a 500 peso salida. When I take any of my hotel customers there he only charges a 500 peso salida.
As of yet I haven't heard of anyone taking a chica out of the Plaza Mumbo so I can't confirm what they are charging as a salida. I didn't see any chica there that I even consider paying 1000 peso salida. Most of the chicas I saw there where ones that were not making any money at Cristals or other bars around town. Not many new faces.

Went in to Plaza Mumbo last night about 10:30pm and stayed for an hour. Had a 10 piece band and the music though loud was “OK”. When the band left the dancers came on and the show wasn’t bad either. They had about 10 chicas there along the rail for the single guys. Most of the crowd were there with “dates” or someone they brought in to see the show and dance.
The chicas started out at 1500 salida and 5000 for the night but when we were about to leave the price dropped to 1000 salida and 3000 pesos. They got no takers because they were the same chicas that two weeks ago when a friend and I stopped in la Prinicipi he took one home for 500 salida and 2000 for all night at the hotel.
As for la Prinicipi, we stopped there after leaving Plaza Mumbo and it was dead. No customers and only 3 chicas. Left for La Chosa only to find a couple customers and no chicas available. The 4 were sitting with guys so we left.
Stopped at the Galatica and found 12 to 15 chicas there ranging from light to dark and 5’s to 7’s. The owner(?) manager of the Galatica thought the prices at Plaza Mumbo were way out of line and after a few weeks the customers would stop going there. The chicas there were ready to leave for 500 salida and 2000 for all night. Without trying for less we left for Ana Mirian’s.
One chica from Ana’s and one from Long Beach and it was off to bed.

it normally costs me about $30 a day to keep a steady plus whoever else i spend time with. if i go to passions or find someone in the afternoon or evening it still only costs another $30 to $50. much more than that just does not make sense to me.

I just got back from a week in DR. I stayed at Blackbeards which is 2 minutes in a cab to Plaza Mambo. I personally had a great time going to Plaza Mambo. For those who haven't been, if you want to cool off, make sure you check out the second floor. There is another bar and also 2 rooms for private parties. Not a bad place to take a girl to dance and hang out. As for prices, the salida is RD$1500. You can take a girl to one of the rooms for an hour for about US$100-120. (I never did that. I like TLN) I also heard you can go to one of the rooms for a 2-3 song private dance for around 900 pesos. (Yeah, thats crazy!). I never paid any salidas. I took 2 different girls out of there on separate nights. I waited for them to get off work at 3am and 3:30am respectively and only paid the girl. I paid one girl 2000 pesos (she was the best of my trip) and the other I paid 2500. Each stayed all night in my hotel. There were some girls that asked for 3000 but I just laugh at them and say have a nice evening.
As for Ana Miriam, a place I also like, I paid a 1000 salida and took a girl to my hotel all night for 1500. The lady that kind of runs things was trying to tell the girl that was not enough. I told them as long as the club gets its salida, whats it to you what the girl gets. The girl was great (especially in the jacuzzi) and I gave her a little tip. I will go back to get her again on my next trip. I also went to Cristal's, El Bohen and Mountainview but didn't indulge in the available candy. Maybe next time.

Operating costs are usually:
1. Breakfast @ a total of US 8-10 for two big plates, juice and coffee
2. Dinner @ a total of US7-10 for food from a stand, sometimes US 30 if a restaurant is involved.
3. Cigars, a bottle of rum and coke @ Us 6-7 during the day
4. Drinks @ the club around US 10-15
So running total food and drink for 2 persons would be US 31 - 62 a day depending upon the splurge..

Guys Just got back from 10 days in DR. Plaza Mombo is OK they have a 12-14 piece band on weekends (live music was a break from the typical disco) since it is walking distance from my apartment I visited it three times. they try to be a show bar with the girls dressing up in diiferent outfits and dancing styles. The band is actually very good. they have food and a gaming area with pool tables and video games also slot type machines that you can win pesos on. besides the girls working there, it seemed more like a local date place. Althogh I did see some chicas in the crowd Sat. night. It is not like club 69 in Sosua with chicks just hanging around all over. The beer is 135 pesos a bottle that alone pissed me off. It is a clean and properly run bar with very good security. Three of the chicas to me were hot especially this one new 18 year old with a nice set of melons. The rest were average along with one or two hefty butts. Overall I say 10- 15 girls a night working a little more on weekends.
Sorry I did not get any pricing as I was with my girl :wink:
