Yesterday, a court in Puerto Plata sent German Neils Casten Waga to six months in prison. He was reportedly caught inside a cabana sexually exploiting three children, aged 12, 16 and 17.
Judge Adriana Vasquez Jimenez said that there were charges and evidence that the German might be a pederast. There had also been previous complaints that he seduced various minors with sexual intentions.
The Dominican authorities said that they had been following the foreigner, a dentist from Leipzig in Germany, since he arrived in the country on 25 December via Puerto Plata airport. There had been complaints that he was exploiting impoverished minors, seducing poor girls with gifts and money.
The District Attorney for the juvenile court, Annier Rodriguez Hilario, was involved in the operation that led to the arrest of the accused. She asked for preventive measures against him as he was caught 'in flagrante delicto'.
The Dominican authorities stated that once Casten had served his six months on remand in prison, he would be handed over to Interpol and the Immigration department for deportation.
The authorities have not been informed whether he is wanted by the German Police.
