The Chief of Police, Major General Jose Armando Polanco Gomez, denied that someone wants to kill former lieutenant Fernando de los Santos (La Soga), and he added that De los Santos should turn himself in any way he feels necessary. National Police spokesman Colonel Maximo Baez Aybar said that the police chief guaranteed the safety of the former lieutenant and added that "it doesn't matter where he is hiding, sooner or later he will be caught and arrested and sent to court to stand trial for the crimes he has committed." He said that the Police are looking for De los Santos incessantly and he reiterated that he should turn himself in to avoid worse things.

"It does not matter where in the country he is hiding, we are going to arrest him and Interpol already has an international arrest warrant for him," he said. The former Police officer is wanted for allegedly murdering two young men. According to the Police, the most important thing is for Fernando de los Santos to show the courts that he is innocent of the charges that he is facing, as he says. "We have classified the former officer as a fugitive and we invite him to turn himself in," said Baez Aybar.

It was said that "La Soga" was recruited by an alleged drug trafficker of Haitian origin and that he keeps moving between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Nonetheless, in a phone call to a journalist, the fugitive from Dominican justice said that he is in the country and that he will not give himself up because he fears the Police will kill him in one of the station houses.
