A report on the ranking of schools in the Dominican Republic showed that of 5,515 public and private schools in the country, 4,564 scored "Deficient" (D) with a ranking below 55 points on all tests. In the School Ranking Classification of Educational Centers (CLACE 2011) by the Think and Grow Foundation, headed by former Minister of Education Melanio Paredes, 397 schools attained the A category, 254 got B and 300 C. The categories were assigned according to the positions of schools that presented test scores between 85 and 55.

The methodology to define the position of each school was based on the performance of the schools in terms of the number of students who passed the four subjects covered in the Standardized National Tests, regardless of the scores or grades reported by the schools themselves. Of 2,377 public primary schools (basic) that were studied, 2,141 received a grade of D and 91 received "A", while 873 private schools received D and 101 were given A. In the category of public high schools, 989 were given D, and of the private high schools, 401 received this D grade. A total of 159 private high schools received an A grade.

The first place in the A category for a primary school was achieved by Domingo Antonio Perez Ozuna School in La Cabirma, Jarabacoa, while in the private category the Porfirio Morales School in Moca received the distinction.
