Hip Hop Festival

Hip Hop dance followers are invited to the Second National Hip Hop Festival. The event is scheduled for Saturday, 28 January as of 6pm at the Plaza Juan Baron of the Malecon in Santo Domingo. 20 groups from all around the country will be competing. The festival, Hip Hop a la Plaza, is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture. There are prizes in two categories: Hip Hop (New Style) RD$75,000, RD$50,000 and RD$30,000; and Break Dance, RD$50,000, RD$30,000 and RD$20,000. The juror is made up by Dominican choreographer Chiqui Haddad, and other members are Waddy Jaquez, Marivel Contreras, Andreina Jimenez, Rocio Hernandez, Marcelo Ferder, Rosa Melo, Joselyn Isais and Marianela Boan, the Cuban choreographer.
