Members of the La Multitud movement stated last night that their national coordinator Hecmilio Galvan was the victim of a plot by police officers. They said that two supposed policemen asked Galvan to accompany them to a pawnshop (compraventa) with no court order or in the company of any member of the Public Prosecutor's office. They stated that it was an attempt to intimidate him in response to his criticism of the Minister of Agriculture
In a press release, calling on the public to be alert, they stated that what had happened to Galvan was an aberration and aggression against all young people. They went on to say, "the corrupt domination of the political parties that govern us, that will not tolerate acts of rebellion and try to silence the centers of resistance to their corrupt and sick policies."
They stated that Hecmillo Galvan has been a loyal defender of Dominican values, mentioning his role as a leading member of the campaign for Los Haitises and for the 4% for education.
