View Full Version : Hotels in Puerto Plata report 80% occupancy

Puerto Plata hotels reported 34% occupancy in December and 71% occupancy over the last two weeks, with the long weekend seeing a rise of 80% capacity. In Punta Cana and Las Terrenas, occupancy was close to 100%, according to Hoy newspaper.

The secretary of the Tourism Press Association in Puerto Plata, Edgar Lantigua, told the newspaper that hotels in Puerto Plata and Cabarete were over 80% occupied this past weekend. The report said that Lifestyle Holiday's Vacation Resort is still in first place with 100% occupancy, and Marien, Iberostar Costa Dorada and others following closely. All the hotels in Playa Dorada were reporting improved occupancy over the November and December 2011 figures.

On the east coast, the president of the Hotel Association of the East, Ernesto Veloz, said that the hotels in the area have been at 100% since the beginning of the tourist season, everything in the area was full and over the weekend. At present there are 350 weekly flights into the Punta Cana International Airport.
