The National Drug Control Department (DNCD) announced the arrest and dismantling of a drug trafficking ring yesterday, composed of Dominicans, Colombians and Puerto Ricans. The arrests were made in conjunction with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). 28 packages of cocaine were found along with three leading members of the ring. What is interesting is that two of the three men who were arrested, former policeman Hector Enrique Cartagena Linares, Kiko, and Marino Polanco del Rosario had been arrested in 1995 and in August 2010 with 195 kilos of cocaine the first time and 10 kilos of cocaine the second time. According to DNCD commander Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo, these arrests came about through an exchange of information with the DEA. According to El Nuevo Diario, the ring picked up drugs smuggled in from Venezuela and Colombia and transported them to Puerto Rico on yachts.
